I heard it from a comedian speaking on how easily we get offended and I really connected with his words, as if he spoke the truth in the simplest and most effective way. Here's my elaborated version of what he said in couple of lines -
"We're been told to not use the word 'rape'. If someone uses this word in his talk or presents an analogy using it, his/ her words don't go well with us. Rape's an horrendous offense and hence this word had been termed as taboo.......But how often do we use the word 'Murder'? Very often, no? 'Dude, if you'll eat my Samosa I'll literally murder you.' 'Bro, I'll kill you if you don't give me your notes.' Is it any less offensive crime, if not more? So, if someone uses the word murder, is it, by default, assumed that he is insulting all the murdered souls and their family?"
